SHOTOVER4WDCLUB AGM NOTICES.
Profiles for candidates.
Here is Bert's Profile.
President.
My name is BERT CHANDLER,

Bert having a moment..!
I intend to stand for Club President. I am married to Noeline, we have a grown up family and have lived in Queenstown since 1975.
The Shotover 4wd Club is coming up 5 years old in September and Noeline and I have been involved since its inception. From only a few enthusiastic members at the start to nearly 60 members now, catering to a wide range of people of various ages and backgrounds.
If elected I can offer the club direction and leadership, I want to see our club out in the community and back country as responsible 4wheel drivers.
As President I would like to see our club have an area that we could develop and use. The ground would be set up for training and vehicle capability testing. Options are being looked at for this, also we may be able to secure zone funding to help set this up. This would be a tremendous help to beginners and for those who want to let off steam!
I see a bright future for our club with an attractive membership fee and a go ahead committee.
Shotover4wd club President,
Bert Chandler.

Treasurer.

She is always behind the lens..!!
I intend to run for Treasurer. My name is Noeline Chandler and I am married to Bert. We have 3 adult children.
Bert and I have been involved with the Shotover Four Wheel Drive Club since its origin in September 2005. I have been a Committee member since November 2005 in the role of Treasurer.
During this time the membership of the club has grown from about 20 financial members to the current membership of 59. My role covers the responsibility of keeping up-to-date records of the members, paying the membership on behalf of our members to the NZ Four Wheel Drive Association, ensuring that floats are available for any club events held, and arranging for the accounts to be audited annually.
I offer my experience to the club for another year by putting forward my name to stand again in the role of Treasurer.

Here is Foss's Profile.
Club Captain.

Hi, I'm Foss, current Club Captain. I was elected to this position following the resignation of the last Club Captain mid year. It's been a learning process for me and a great opportunity to have a hand in the shaping and direction of our club. I am particularly interested in the safe use of 4wd's for the enjoyment of all members, following club trip safety protocols and rules, and generally promoting a fun, safe, and predictable environment for all participants. I am glad of the opportunity to put my name forward for re-election to the position of Club Captain.

I am standing again for election to your Committee as the Newsletter Editor for the new club year.
I have been a Club member since December, 2008, and the Editor since the 2009 AGM. I hope you consider I have done a good enough job on the Newsletter to vote me back on the job for the next year.
I live with my partner of 35 years Glenys Stewart and between us we have four grown up children and eight grandchildren. Glenys & I came to Queenstown from Te Anau where we owned a Tourist Lodge at Cascade Creek in the Eglinton valley, in 1981.
I operate a small business as a Manufacturers Sales Representative, looking after the interests of five New Zealand manufacturers of souvenir products traveling around the South Island selling to retail shops, and Glenys is the Administration Manager for Mountain Scene newspaper.
We have one 4WD vehicle, a 1993 Toyota Landcruiser VX Ltd fitted up with front and rear factory diff locks, snorkel and electric winch. The truck is raised 75mm and on 35inch all terrain tyres.
Previous experience with the Dunstan 4WD Club, Alexandra, from 1987 to 2003, we were part of a small group of Queenstowners’ who enjoyed membership with that club.

Here is Pams profile.
Committee Member.

After returning from Australia to my hometown in April 2007 I was looking at buying a 4wd that would get me up the Peak for skiing. My brother told me I would have to buy snowchains because you had to carry them at all times because of the “shinny” 4wders from out of town not driving to the conditions. Being a “shinny” myself I didn’t realise there was a special way to drive a 4wd so looked around for a course to learn how. There was no course available at weekends so after many months I plucked up the courage to phone up Mark Harvey from the Shotover 4wd Club. Once Mark convinced me the club wasn’t full of chauvinistic red-necks in monster trucks I came along to a meeting or two. They were welcoming and encouraging. Winter 08 I went on my first trip. Soon after I took off the running boards, fitted a Safari snorkel and fitted 4 muddies. I was hooked, there was no looking back!
Since then I drive on almost every trip that my Surf can cope with. If not I seem to scab a lift in someone else’s truck with a bit of bribery in the form of home baking. I have been a marshall on the last two Queenstown Winch Challenges, organised the after match function at the last Winch Challenge, organised our Orienteering Fund Raiser, support crew for the Teams Recovery Event in Wellington and advertised and promoted our club meetings and events through websites, the Mirror, the Mountain Scene the Queenstown Times and the LWB.
I would like to continue promoting our club, expanding the membership, encouraging new members to get involved and organised events.
I live in Frankton with my 3 children aged 16, 18 & 20 and work full-time at Placemakers.

Here is Nicks profile.
Committee member

I am standing for election to the Committee. I have been in the Shotover 4WD club since November 2008, I joined the club to get better use out of my Old red soft top Pajero and to get out and about in this great country side we have around us. I have been in Queenstown since winter 2007 after been in Australia for 12 years. Originally from Southland (No I don’t like or eat Swedes). I am a mechanic by trade and work as service manager for a large mechanical workshop here in Queenstown. I now have 2 trucks Poooze the grey Mighty Pajero which most of you would have seen on the many trips, and now have a shiny Toyota Prado which is my daily drive and I wont be out bush bashing it.
I would like to bring a fresh new approach to the club if I am elected onto the committee.

Hi everyone.
This is from the NZ4WD assn notifying us of their AGM and conference in Palmiston North at the end of May.
At this stage no one from the club is planning on attending but if your keen let me know.
Of interest to you will be the remits, in particular remit 3 concerning maximum tire size.
The club will have a vote on these remits at our AGM next month as to how we are going to vote.
